Our newly refurbed building has a purpose built, air-conditioned rehabilitation studio, here we can cater for all levels and abilities to help you on your journey to physical health.
Clinical Pilates is great for backpain, strengthening the body, injury rehabilitation and injury prevention. Whether you are a professional athlete or a full time retiree – we know we can help you.
At New wave physiotherapy we are proud to base our Pilates classes on the APPI method. The APPI (Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute) have modified the traditional Pilates exercises making them suitable for those affected by pain, injury and pathology. This means that the exercises are safe for each individual no matter what their level of injury or fitness. We use the method to help participants to improve their posture, for injury rehabilitation and for injury prevention thereby improving ‘fitness for life’ whether the individual is a professional athlete or a fulltime retiree.
During the COVID-19 Pandemic please call or email us for more information about Pilates at New Wave Physiotherapy!
Please be aware it is essential to have completed a 1:1 pilates session with one of our team prior to attending classes.
New Pilates Clients
If you are new to Pilates here at New Wave, we ask you to complete a ‘Pilates Assessment’ before attending the classes. Even if you have done Pilates before we complete the assessment to discuss any injuries, to teach the detailed basics of the APPI Pilates method and to direct you to the most appropriate class.
Once you have completed the assessment, if you and your therapist are happy the the group setting is going to be suitable, we will find a regular class in our timetable to suit you. Please be aware not everyone is ready to progress to a class after the assessment and you may need further 1:1s to ensure you are safe (this is usually only for people with a history of multiple injuries).
